An-Nur Verses 0 - 54

(And if you obey him, you will be guided), this statement encourages obedience, and it follows the intimidation implied in this statement (and you are responsible for your duty). Ibn Ashur: 18/281.
Question: This verse combines encouragement and intimidation. Explain.

An-Nur Verses 0 - 54

(And if you obey him, you will be guided) to the straight path in word and deed, but there is no way for you to be guided except through obedience; without which guidance is not possible for you, in fact, it is impossible. Al-Saadi: 573.
Question: Is there a way to guidance other than obeying the Messenger (ﷺ)?

An-Nur Verses 0 - 55

This verse is a clear proof that Muslim Caliphs such as Abu Bakr, Omar, Othman, Ali, Alhasan, and Mu'awiya were pleasing to Allah because He extensively made them successors, as He made those who came before them, helped them to conquer the land from east to west, and made Persian kings and Roman Caesars frightened of them. Ibn Ashur: 18/286.
Question: This verse indicates the virtue of these Companions (j). How?

An-Nur Verses 0 - 55

(But whoever disbelieves after that), after you have been given full power and authority, O Muslims (then those are the defiantly disobedient) who have drifted away from obedience to Allah, and have become corrupt, thus, they are no longer righteous people and are no longer qualified for anything good, because if a person gives up faith when the religion is prevailing, its enemies have been defeated, and there are no impediments to faith, this is indicative of his corrupt intentions and evil nature, since there is no reason for him to abandon faith except that. Al-Saadi: 573.
Question: Allah describes those who disbelieve after being given authority as defiantly disobedient. Why?

An-Nur Verses 0 - 56

Here, Allah enjoins establishing prayer and the giving zakah. These two are the greatest and most virtuous acts of worship, which combine the fulfillment of duties toward Allah and toward His creation, in which the individual shows devotion to Allah and shows kindness to people. That is followed by a general command (and obey the Messenger)...(so that) if you do this, (you may receive mercy). Whoever seeks mercy, this is the way to attain it. Whoever hopes to find mercy without establishing prayer, giving zakah and obeying the Messenger (ﷺ), is indulging in wishful thinking and is lying, as his soul makes him feel content with false hopes. Al-Saadi: 573.
Question: Among all ordinances that require obedience to the Messenger, prayer and zakah are singled out for mention. Why? What do you think of one who hopes for Allah's mercy, but disobeys the Messenger and falls short in his prayer and zakah?

An-Nur Verses 0 - 57

(In the land), this includes all parts of the earth, which means: Do not think that they would escape Allah's punishment at any part of the earth, no matter where they go. Al-Alusi: 9/398.
Question:  In this verse, what does this term, (in the land) indicate?

An-Nur Verses 0 - 58

These particular times are specified because they are when people are resting alone, and putting aside their clothing, thus, they are exposed and do not wish for anyone to see them. Al-Qurtubi: 15/313.
Question: These times are specified for which permission is required. Why?
