They have not revered Allah the reverence He deserves), those who ascribed partners to Allah did not venerate Him as He should be venerated, for they invoked others besides Him and were not sincere to Him in worship, nor really knew Him. This is similar to saying to someone who fails to treat a great person with respect: You did not give him the recognition he deserves. Al-Tabari: 18/686.
Question: Whoever circumambulates, offers sacrifices or prays to gravesites, does not revere Allah the reverence He deserves. Explain.
Allah Has chosen Gabriel from the angels, and Muhammad (ﷺ) from mankind. Ibn Taimyah: 4/444.
Question: Describe the virtue of the Prophet (ﷺ) in light of the verse.
After presenting the proofs to the polytheists, and rebuking them for their misdeeds, this Surah concludes by addressing the believers on what amends their deeds and raises their status. This order of topics indicates that focusing on amending the belief takes precedence over amending deeds. Ibn Ashur: 17/345.
Question: Amending the belief takes precedence over amending deeds. Explain in light of this verse.
Bowing and prostration indicate prayer, and they are singled out for mention because they are the greatest among all other pillars of prayer, for they show humility and submission. Ibn Ashur: 17/346.
Question: Among all pillars of prayer, bowing and prostration are singled out for mention here. Why?
(Worship Your Lord), this is general for all acts of worship after mentioning prayer which is denoted by bowing and prostrating. Prayer is mentioned first because it is the most important form of worship. Ibn Juzay: 2/65.
Question: Prayer is mentioned before other acts of worship. Why?
Striving means doing one's utmost to attain the desired goal. Striving in the cause of Allah as one ought to strive means complying in full with the commands of Allah, and calling people to His path by all possible means, such as offering sincere advice, teaching, fighting, disciplining, rebuking, exhorting, and so on. Al-Saadi: 547.
Question: Is Jihad limited to carrying weapons to ward off the enemy?
Allah says, with a confirmed negation, that He has not placed upon us in the religion any difficulty. Whoever believes that there is an atom weight of difficulty in what Allah ordains, then he denies Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ). Then, how about one who believes that what is been ordained by Allah is harmful and with no benefit to us? Ibn Taimyah: 4/448.
Question: There is no difficulty or harm in what Allah Has ordained . Explain in light of this verse.
