ﭜ ﭝ ﭞ ﭟ ٧٣ ٧٣ ﭡ ﭢ ﭣ ﭤ ﭥ
ﭦ ﭧ ﭨ ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ٧٤ ٧٤ ﭭ ﭮ ﭯ ﭰ ﭱ
ﭲ ﭳ ﭴ ﭵ ﭶ ﭷ ﭸ ﭹ ﭺ ﭻ
ﭼ ﭽ ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ ﮂ ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ
ﮈ ﮉ ﮊ ﮋ ٧٥ ٧٥ ﮍ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ
ﮑ ﮒ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ
ﮛ ﮜ ﮝ ﮞ ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤ
ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ٧٦ ٧٦ ﮫ ﮬ
ﮭ ﮮ ﮯ ﮰ ﮱ ﯓ ﯔ ﯕ
ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠ ٧٧ ٧٧
ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ ﯩ
ﯪ ﯫ ﯬ ﯭ ﯮ ﯯ
ﯰ ٧٨ ٧٨ ﯲ ﯳ ﯴ ﯵ ﯶ ﯷ ﯸ ﯹ
ﯺ ﯻ ﯼ ﯽ ﯾ ﯿ ﰀ ﰁ ﰂ ﰃ ﰄ ٧٩ ٧٩
فَلَا تَضۡرِبُواْ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡأَمۡثَالَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعۡلَمُ وَأَنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ٧٤
Meaning: Allah knows the hideousness of your shirk while you do not; but if you did, you would never dare to do it. This is the justification for forbidding you to make comparisons to Him. Or He knows the essence of all things and you do not, so let your view and analogy beneath His revelation. Al-Qasimi: 4/534.
Question: The verse ends with (Indeed, Allah knows and you do not know). Why?
فَلَا تَضۡرِبُواْ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡأَمۡثَالَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعۡلَمُ وَأَنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ٧٤
The reason that shirk is making comparisons to Allah is that they attributed divine traits to the idols and likened them to the Creator. Ibn Ashur: 14/223.
Question: Why is it wrong and utter ignorance on the part of the polytheists to worship idols?
ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا عَبۡدٗا مَّمۡلُوكٗا لَّا يَقۡدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَيۡءٖ وَمَن رَّزَقۡنَٰهُ مِنَّا رِزۡقًا حَسَنٗا فَهُوَ يُنفِقُ مِنۡهُ سِرّٗا وَجَهۡرًاۖ هَلۡ يَسۡتَوُۥنَۚ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ ٧٥
Allah compares the inability of their idols to provide them with provision to a bonded slave who is incapable of managing his own affairs, and does not own any wealth. Ibn Ashur: 14/223.
Question: Idols, shrines, and grave sites are helpless to benefit themselves, so how will they benefit others? Explain in light of this verse.
ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا عَبۡدٗا مَّمۡلُوكٗا لَّا يَقۡدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَيۡءٖ وَمَن رَّزَقۡنَٰهُ مِنَّا رِزۡقًا حَسَنٗا فَهُوَ يُنفِقُ مِنۡهُ سِرّٗا وَجَهۡرًاۖ هَلۡ يَسۡتَوُۥنَۚ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ ٧٥
This is an example of Allah, the Almighty, and the idols; the idols are like a helpless bonded slave while Allah, the Almighty, is the King; the provision is in His Hand, and He disposes of it as He wills, so how can He be equated with idols?! Ibn Juzay: 1/432.
Question: Shirk contradicts sound reason. Explain in light of this verse.
وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةَ
These three faculties are singled out because of their significance and importance, for they are the key to all knowledge, as no one can acquire knowledge except through one of these three faculties. Al-Saadi: 445.
Question: Why are these three faculties singled out for mention?
أَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ إِلَى ٱلطَّيۡرِ مُسَخَّرَٰتٖ فِي جَوِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَا يُمۡسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يُؤۡمِنُونَ ٧٩
The term (signs) is in the plural form since there are different indicators of Allah's power in the flight of birds. The creation of air, the suitable bodies of birds to fly in midair, and inspiring birds to float in the air and do not fall to the ground except with their own will. Ibn Ashur: 14/236.
Question: The term (signs) is in the plural form. Why?
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يُؤۡمِنُونَ
The believers are the ones who benefit from the signs of Allah and reflect upon what has been made a sign pointing to Him. As for others, when they look, it is in a heedless and careless manner. Al-Saadi: 445.
Question: Why are the believers singed out for benefiting from the universal signs?
