He did not say: "He took me out of the well" for two reasons, first: Mentioning the well would demean his brothers and remind them of what they did, so he omitted that part to preserve their dignity. (You are my Protector), You are the closest to me inwardly and outwardly. (In this world and in the Hereafter), I have no protector except You, and the protector does what is best for his servant, so bestow your favors on me in the Hereafter more than You did in this worldly life. Al-Biqai: 4/100.

(Cause me to die as a Muslim), when Joseph (u) numerated the favors of Allah, he invoked Him to conclude His favors by causing him to die as a Muslim when his time comes. Ibn Juzay: 1/427.
Question: Receiving the favors of Allah in this world should not distract one from pursuing His favors in the Hereafter. Explain in light of this verse.

He asked for the state in which he will be and not death itself, as Allah ordains. Ibn Taimyah: 4/67.
Question: Did Joseph (u) wish for death? Explain.
