To be able to say this against so many enemies is indicative of a complete trust in Allah's help. Al-Qurtubi: 11/143.
Question: What does the saying of Hud (u): (So plot against me all together) indicate?
(There is no moving creature), a soul living on Earth. (But He holds it by its forelock), He has perfect power over it; He can discharge or restrain it. Al-Qurtubi: 11/143.
Question: This verse shows an example of Allah's power, and the weakness of the creatures. Explain.
(And you cannot harm Him in the least), by denying and turning away; rather you harm yourselves. It is also said that if He destroys you, that will not diminish anything from His sovereignty because your existence or inexistence are the same to Him. Al-Baghawi: 2/409.
Question: Can anyone harm his Lord by turning away from His obedience?
No one can be saved unless by the mercy of Allah, even if he has good deeds. Al-Qurtubi: 11/146.
Question: Can anyone be saved from Allah’s punishment by his good deeds only?
Whoever disobeys one Messenger, disobeys them all, for they are all in accord on believing in the Oneness of Allah. Ibn Juzay: 1/400.
Question: This verse proves that whoever rejects one Messenger, he rejects them all. Explain.
This type of closeness leads to the bestowal of Allah's mercy, His response to their supplications and His fulfilment of their hopes. Hence, He mentions His name, (the Near) alongside His name (the Responsive). Al-Saadi: 385.
Question: Allah joines His Holy Name (the Near) with (the Responsive). Why?
Meaning: We truly had hopes in you before this, and expected wisdom and benefit from you. This testimony on their part in favor of their Prophet Salih indicates that he was known for his good attitude and noble character, and that he was among the best of his people. Al-Saadi: 385.
Question: The scholar who calls to Allah should combine between faith and good morals. Explain.
