Most scholars said: He is not of your religion or allegiance. This proves that the ties of religion are stronger than that of kinship. Al-Qurtubi: 11/134.
Question: What is the great principle that we learn from this verse?
(So do not ask of Me that of what you have no knowledge), do not ask Me that of which you do not know the outcome, whether it will be good or otherwise. Al-Saadi: 382.
Question: One may ask Allah for something, but it is best for him not to get it. Explain in light of this verse.
Forgiveness and mercy will save a person from being among the losers. Al-Saadi: 383.
Question: What are the causes of being saved in the Hereafter?
Noah (u) asked for forgiveness first, then he asked for mercy because once Allah is pleased with him, he will be fit for mercy. Ibn Ashur: 12/88.
Question: Why did Noah (u) ask for forgiveness before asking for mercy?
Allah blessed them all until they filled all regions of the earth. Al-Saadi: 383.
Question: Allah Had blessed the descendants from those who were with Noah (u) in the Ark. What is the indication of that blessing?
Meaning: Just like Noah (u) who was patient, and achieved the best outcome, you [Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)] will have the best outcome over your people. Ibn Ashur: 12/93.
Question: After the narrative of Noah (u), the Prophet (ﷺ) was commanded to be patient. Why ?
This verse proves that asking for Allah's forgiveness and repenting to Him is a cause for rainfall. The repentance mentioned here means repenting from disbelief, then repenting from sins because repentance from sins is valid only after faith. Ibn Juzay: 1/399.
Question: Identify some of the benefits of asking for Allah's forgiveness.
