The link between the conclusion of Surat At-Tawbah and the beginning of this Surah is made clear in these two points: The preceding Surah concludes with the mention of the Messenger (ﷺ), and this Surah begins with that too. The preceding Surah mentions what the hypocrites say when a Surah of the Quran is revealed, and this Surah mentions what the disbelievers say about the Quran. Al-Alusi: 11/79.
Question: What is the link between the conclusion of Surat At-Tawbah and the beginning of Surat Yunus?
Even though He is able to create them in a single moment but He did not, because of His divine wisdom and the Graciousness of His actions. Al-Saadi: 357.
Question: Why did Allah not create Heavens and earth in a single moment?
So, none of them can come forward to intercede, even if he is the best of creation, until Allah grants permission. He does not grant permission to anyone except one with whom He is pleased, and He is not pleased with anyone except those who are sincere to Him alone and affirm His Oneness. Al-Saadi: 357.
Question: What are the two conditions for intercession?
Justly): Fairly. This is to explain the rationale of life after death, since this worldly life is for doing deeds while the recompense for these deeds is in the Hereafter, and that is why the resurrection is deemed necessary and certain. Al-Jaza'iri : 2/448.
Question: What is the wisdom behind resurrecting people after death?
Among all painful torment, drinking scalding water is singled out for mention because it is the most abhorred torment to the souls. Ibn Ashur: 11/93.
Question: Why is drinking scalding water is singled out for mention?
These verses urge and encourage us to reflect on the creations of Allah, to examine them and seek to learn lessons from them. Thus, our insight will deepen, our faith and knowledge will increase, and reason will be strengthened. However, neglecting that implies that one is taking this command of Allah lightly, which closes the door to any increase in faith and causes the mind to stagnate. Al-Saadi: 358.
Question: Why is it important to reflect of the creations of Allah?
(There are signs for people who fear Him), those who fear Allah are singled out for mention because fear of Allah stimulates reflection and pondering. Al-Alusi: 11/97.
Question: Which trait that stimulates reflection and pondering?
