At-Tawbah Verses 0 - 41

Jihad with wealth precedes Jihad with lives, as Allah says, (and strive with your wealth and your lives in the cause of Allah), because one who strives with his wealth has, in fact, given out his wealth in the cause of Allah, and the one who strives with his life hopes to survive. Ibn Taimyah: 3/373.
Question: What is the importance of Jihad with wealth? Explain in the light of this verse.

Sufyan bin Uyaynah said: "Reflect on the kindness of Allah; He starts with forgiveness before mentioning the sin." Al-Baghawi: 2/289.

At-Tawbah Verses 0 - 44

Allah states that those who believe in Him and the Last Day do not ask for permission to stay behind from Jihad, and avoid offering their wealth and their lives, because of the desire that they have for good and their faith motivates them to strive in Jihad without anyone urging them, let alone asking to stay behind without an excuse. Al-Saadi: 338-339.
Question: True believers never ask to be excused from Jihad. Why?

At-Tawbah Verses 0 - 46

Meaning: If they intended Jihad, they would have prepared for the road, but neglecting the preparation was a proof that they intended to stay behind. Al-Qurtubi: 10/229.
Question: What is the sign of sincerity when intending to perform an act of worship?

At-Tawbah Verses 0 - 47

(Had they gone forth), the hypocrites, (with you) to Jihad, (they would not have increased you except in confusion) causing chaos and corruption by exaggerating the matters to induce cowardice among the believers. (And they would have been active) they would have rushed, (among you) by gossiping to cause enmity and hatred among you. Al-Baghawi: 2/289.
Question: Describe the effect of hypocrites in spreading gossip and corruption.

At-Tawbah Verses 0 - 47

Allah states that there were among the believers some who responded and accepted what the hypocrites said. Since this had occurred at the times of the Prophet (ﷺ), then it is more likely to occur afterwards. Ibn Taimyah: 3/374.
Question: Is the risk of hypocrisy limited to the times of the Prophet (ﷺ). Explain.
