And they have not revered Allah His true reverence), they did not have true knowledge of Him, His Graciousness and Mercy to His servants since they denied the fact that He sent Messengers and revealed Scriptures. The Jews were the ones who made that claim considering the subsequent response from Allah. They said that in exaggerated denial of the Prophethood of Muhammad (ﷺ). Ibn Juzay: 1/278.
Question: What is the sign of revering Allah His true reverence?
Ibn Abbas () said: "The meaning of this verse applies to the disbelievers only, since whoever believes that Allah is Most Capable of all things, then he revered Allah His true reverence." Ibn Taimyah: 3/53.
Question: Who revers Allah His true reverence?
Among this type of wrongdoers is one who turned away from the Prophet's Sunnah and the way of the righteous predecessors. So, he would say: I have a hunch about this matter, or my heart tells me this about such matter. And so, they rule by how they feel in their hearts and by whatever thoughts that come to them. They set aside the rules of Sharia, saying: These rules are meant for the fools and general public, but the elite allies do not need them. Al-Qurtubi: 8/458.
Question: When thoughts of the heart and dreams are considered a source of rules of Sharia, does that constitute fabricating lies against Allah?
No one does more wrong or greater evil than the one who tells lies against Allah, by attributing to Him words or rulings that have nothing to do with Him. Indeed, this is the worst of characteristics, because it involves lying and changing religious teachings in both the fundamental and minor issues, and attributing that to Allah. This is one of the worst of evil deeds. Al-Saadi: 265.
Question: No one does greater wrong than one who fabricates lies against Allah. Why?
(While the angels are stretching out their hands) tormenting them and striking their faces and their backs, moreover, it is said: Tormenting them by taking their souls. The angels say, (Give up your souls) unwillingly, because the believer' soul is elated for meeting its Lord while the disbeliever' soul hates that. It means that if only you could see that, you would be astonished. Al-Baghawi: 2/47.
Question: What is the difference between the believer and disbeliever at the time of death?
Meaning: You have come to Us one by one, each one is alone without his family, wealth, children or helper from those who accompanied him before in his wrongdoing. Al-Qurtubi: 8/461.
Question: One's wealth, family and children are all considered adornment of the worldly life. Why?
All creatures are servants of Allah, and Allah is their Sovereign and the only One Who is deserving of their worship. On the Day of Resurrection, they will be rebuked for associating others in worship with Allah and devoting worship to some of His servants, ascribing to them the status of the Creator and Sovereign. Al-Saadi: 265.
Question: On the Day of Resurrection, those who worship righteous men will have great remorse. Explain in light of this verse.
