Shirk, which is associating partners with Allah will become apparent to them so they will say: (By Allah, our Lord, we never associated any partners (with Allah)), then Allah will make their senses to speak and they will testify against them. Al-Qurtubi: 8/354.
Question: What did they conceal before? How will it become apparent to them?
The reality of this world is that it is mere play and distraction; it is play in a physical sense, and its distraction affects hearts and minds, which are deeply attached to it, and focus all their attention on it, like children at play. As for the Hereafter, it is (best for those who fear Allah), in itself and in its attributes and eternal nature. In it, there is what hearts long for and what delights the eye of bliss, pleasure, happiness and joy. But that is not for everyone; rather it is only for those who fear Allah, comply with His commands and avoid what He prohibits. Al-Saadi: 252-253.
Question: List two differences between enjoyment of this world and the bliss of the Hereafter?
In this life, what is done for the sake of the Hereafter is not considered amusement or diversion. Amusement is doing something of no value, and diversion is doing something for distraction only. Ibn Abbas (t) said: "This (amusement and diversion) is the life of the disbeliever because he spent it in delusion and falsehood, but the life of the believer is full of good deeds." Al-Qurtubi: 8/361.
Question: Is everything in this worldly life amusement and diversion?
Allah Has negated their doubt but confirmed their denial. It is well-known that doubting by their tongues was not repudiated, rather it was the doubt in their hearts that was negated, [i.e. they knew in their hearts that Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was truthful]. Ibn Taimyah: 3/23.
Question: What is the negated doubt in this verse?
Therefore, be patient as they were patient, and you will attain victory as they did. Al-Saadi: 255.
Question: What is the wisdom behind narrating the stories of previous Messengers?
(You have already received some accounts of those messengers), some of their news, which included their endurance then their triumph. This enforces the belief in Allah's promise and encourages patience. Ibn Juzay: 1/266.
Question: The aim of revealing the Holy Quran is to adhere to its rules. Explain.
Allah commanded His Messenger (ﷺ) not to grieve for their disbelief since he did not have the power to guide them to the truth. Al-Qurtubi: 8/367.
Question: For one who calls others to Allah, why should he not grieve for those who turn away?
