Al-Isra Verses 0 - 8

These verses contain a warning for the Muslim Ummah against committing sins, lest there befall them what befell the Children of Israel, for the way of Allah [in dealing with sinners] is the same and never changes or alters. Anyone who examines how the disbelievers and wrongdoers have the upper hand over the Muslims will realize that this is a punishment to them because of their sins; if they adhere to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (ﷺ), Allah will establish them in the land and grant them victory over their enemies. Al-Saadi: 454.
Question: When reciting a verse that narrates the story of another nation, how do you benefit from that for inviting others to Allah?

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 9

Meaning: The Quran guides to what is most upright more so than the guidance of the Scripture of the Children of Israel which is mentioned earlier, (and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel). It indicates that the Ummah of the Quran is safe from deviating from the most upright way. Ibn Ashur: 15/4.
Question: The Holy Quran is a safeguard against deviation. How is this inferred from the verse?

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 11

Ibn Abbas (t) and others said: This is praying against oneself and children at times of distress for things which that he does not really like to be answered. Al-Qurtubi: 13/34.
Question: Give an example of man's hastiness.

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 11

This is a censure and a reproach for what people do at times of anger when they invoke Allah against themselves, their properties and children; they pray for evil during times of frustration similar to when they pray for good at times of sanity. Ibn Juzay: 1/483.
Question: Some people may cause harm to themselves. Explain in light of this verse.

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 12

Meaning: Two signs indicating the Oneness of Allah, His existence, His perfect knowledge and power. The sign is in the fact that, for an observer, each one of them begins from the unknown and fades into the unknown. Moreover, the decrease in either one is an increase to the other, and the brightness of the day as opposed to the darkness of the night. Al-Qurtubi: 13/37.
Question: Why are the night and day considered to be signs?

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 14

This is the ultimate justice and fairness, that it will be said to the individual: "Take account of your self", thus he will acknowledge his wrongdoing that brought the punishment upon him. Al-Saadi: 455.
Question: In light of this verse, discuss the perfect justice of Allah, the Almighty.

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 17

Meaning: You disbelievers are not dearer to Allah than they were, and you have rejected the noblest of the Messengers and the best of creation, so you are more deserving of punishment. Ibn Kathir: 3/33.
Question: What is the aim of informing that Allah had destroyed many nations after the people of Noah (u)?
