ﯫ ﯬ ﯭ ٤٣ ٤٣ ﯯ ﯰ ﯱ ﯲ ٤٤ ٤٤ ﯴ
ﯵ ﯶ ٤٥ ٤٥ ﯸ ﯹ ﯺ ﯻ ﯼ ٤٦ ٤٦ ﯾ
ﯿ ﰀ ٤٧ ٤٧ ﰂ ﰃ ﰄ ﰅ ﰆ ﰇ ٤٨ ٤٨
ﰉ ﰊ ﰋ ٤٩ ٤٩ ﰍ ﰎ ﰏ ﰐ ٥٠ ٥٠
أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ كِفَاتًا ٢٥
The earth contains the living on top of it and the dead inside it. This proves that burying the dead is obligatory, even its hair when it is cut off and other parts removed from the human body. Al-Qurtubi: 21/505
Question: What is the Sharia ruling learned from this verse?
إِنَّهَا تَرۡمِي بِشَرَرٖ كَٱلۡقَصۡرِ ٣٢ كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَٰلَتٞ صُفۡرٞ ٣٣
(Tawny camels): The word translated here as (tawny) refers to a black color with a hint of yellow. This indicates that the flames, coals, and sparks of hell are dark, and that it is black, terrible in appearance, and extremely hot. We ask Allah to keep us safe from it and from the deeds that would bring us close to it. Al-Saadi: 905.
Question: Through your reflection on the meaning of this verse, what is the color of Hellfire? Is it all dark, or does it have some light?
فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمۡ كَيۡدٞ فَكِيدُونِ ٣٩
This highlights their helplessness, alludes to their plans in worldly life, and rebukes them for that. Ibn Juzay: 2/525.
Question: On the Day of Resurrection, the disbelievers will be helpless and unable to speak, so how can they plan anything?
كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ٤٣
This proves that their righteous deeds in worldly life will be a reason for them to enjoy the bliss of Paradise in the Hereafter, but a Prophetic Hadith states: "There is none whose deeds alone would entitle him to get into Paradise." There is no contradiction between the two texts, as entering Paradise is by the favor of Allah, and after they enter, their rankings and pleasures will be based on their deeds. Hence, They all share Allah's favor in entering Paradise, but their ranks will vary commensurate with their deeds. Al-Shanqiti: 8/404.
Question: What is the link between righteous deeds and entering Paradise? Explain.
كُلُواْ وَتَمَتَّعُواْ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجۡرِمُونَ ٤٦
This indicates that every criminal will enjoy himself for a few days [in worldly life], but will end up in permanent torment and suffering [in the Hereafter]. Al-Alusi: 15/197.
Question: What is the indication of enjoining the disbelievers to eat and enjoy themselves in this worldly life?
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرۡكَعُواْ لَا يَرۡكَعُونَ ٤٨
Meaning: Obey Allah, the Almighty, be humble and modest with Him by accepting His revelation and following His religion, and reject this arrogance and conceit. (They do not bow), they do not humble themselves, refuse to accept it, and persist in their arrogance. Al-Alusi: 15/197.
Question: What is the indication of enjoining the polytheists to bow and their refusal to do so?
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرۡكَعُواْ لَا يَرۡكَعُونَ ٤٨ وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ٤٩
Part of their evildoing is that when they were enjoined to pray, which is one of the noblest acts of worship, and it was said to them (Bow [in prayer]), they refused to do so. What evildoing can be worse than this? What denial can be greater than this? Al-Saadi: 905.
