Az-Zumar Verses 0 - 32

۞فَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّن كَذَبَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلصِّدۡقِ إِذۡ جَآءَهُۥٓۚ أَلَيۡسَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَثۡوٗى لِّلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ٣٢

They had committed many acts of grave wrongdoings; violating the sanctity of the Lord by lying about His attributes, lying against Him by claiming that He commanded them to practice their falsehood, denying the Messenger, attributing falsehood to the Quran, causing annoyance to the believers, flipping the facts about the world and corrupting them, and causing the infliction of eternal punishment on themselves. Ibn Ashur: 24/5.
Question: List some of the wrongdoings for which the polytheists deserved to be described as, the most unjust among people.

Az-Zumar Verses 0 - 33

وَٱلَّذِي جَآءَ بِٱلصِّدۡقِ وَصَدَّقَ بِهِۦٓ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَ ٣٣

All characteristics of piety and righteousness boil down to proclaiming the truth and believing in it. Al-Saadi: 724.
Question: What is the link between righteousness and saying the truth and believing in it?

Az-Zumar Verses 0 - 36

أَلَيۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِكَافٍ عَبۡدَهُۥۖ وَيُخَوِّفُونَكَ بِٱلَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِۦۚ

Allah honors the Messenger (ﷺ) greatly by attributing his servitude to Him, (His servant), which also, indicates that Allah will never abandon him to his enemies. Ibn Ashur: 24/13.
Question: Explain how the Prophet (ﷺ) is honored by Allah in light of this verse.

Az-Zumar Verses 0 - 36

أَلَيۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِكَافٍ عَبۡدَهُۥۖ وَيُخَوِّفُونَكَ بِٱلَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِۦۚ

(Is not Allah sufficient for His servant), this strengthens the soul of the Prophet (ﷺ), because the disbelievers of Quraish threatened him with their idols and said: O Muhammad, you revile them, and we are afraid that they may inflict you with madness or other sickness. So, this verse was revealed in response to them. Ibn Atiyah: 4/532.
Question: What should be the position of the believer if he is threatened with created beings? Explain in light of this verse.

Az-Zumar Verses 0 - 37

أَلَيۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِعَزِيزٖ ذِي ٱنتِقَامٖ ٣٧

If the polytheists profess to Allah's above-mentioned attributes, then they would have to know that Allah, the All-Mighty, would suffice His servant. So, no one could inflict harm on him, and that He would take retribution from those who intended harm to His servant. Ibn Ashur: 24/15.
Question: This verse ends with these two attributes, (All-Mighty, Capable of Retribution). Why?

Az-Zumar Verses 39 - 40

قُلۡ يَٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡمَلُواْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمۡ إِنِّي عَٰمِلٞۖ فَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٣٩ مَن يَأۡتِيهِ عَذَابٞ يُخۡزِيهِ وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيۡهِ عَذَابٞ مُّقِيمٌ ٤٠

After Allah has fully admonished and presented the clearest proof to them, and kept firm His Messenger (ﷺ), He commanded His Messenger (ﷺ) to stand aside in anticipation of near victory, and promise them an awaited loss. Ibn Ashur: 24/1.
Question: How does this verse pertain to the verses before it?

Az-Zumar Verses 0 - 40

مَن يَأۡتِيهِ عَذَابٞ يُخۡزِيهِ وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيۡهِ عَذَابٞ مُّقِيمٌ ٤٠

(A humiliating punishment), a punishment by killing them, taking them captives, subjecting them to hunger and drought; and all of that happened to the polytheists in Makkah and in the battle of Badr. (And upon whom will descend an everlasting punishment), which is the Fire punishment in the Hereafter. We seek refuge with Allah from both punishments; the humiliating punishment in worldly life and the Fire punishment in the Hereafter. Al-Jaza'iri: 4/490.
Question: What is the difference between the humiliating punishment and the everlasting punishment?
