Al-Qasas Verses 0 - 71

This recurrent amazing creation that occurs twice daily is an excellent inference of the Oneness of Allah. Every sane person is well aware of its occurrence; it is one of the most evident manifestations of change in this universe. Ibn Ashur: 20/168.
Question: Inference of the Oneness of Allah here is based on the alternation of day and night. Why?

Al-Qasas Verses 0 - 71

In these verses, Allah points out that the individual should reflect on the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon him, try to understand them and compare what he has with what his situation would be if he did not have those blessings. If he compares his situation when he has these blessings and what it would be if he did not have them, he will become more aware of the great blessings that he has, unlike the one who thinks of them as nothing out of the ordinary and thinks that he will always have them, and thus is no longer appreciative of the blessings of Allah, and does not realize his need for these blessings at all times. Al-Saadi: 623.
Question: The verses point to a case for reflection on Allah's blessings. What is it?

Al-Qasas Verses 0 - 73

Allah specifies resting during the night and working during the day, since that is the most common setting for people, even if some rest during the day and work during the night, but that is a negligible exception to the rule. Ibn Atiyah: 4/297.
Question: Some people rest during the day and work during the night. Does that contradict the verse? Explain.

Al-Qasas Verses 0 - 76

When Allah says, (And whatever you have been given is only an enjoyment and adornment of the life of this world), He revealed that Korah was given all that, and he became deluded by it, but it did not save him from Allah's punishment as it did not save Pharaoh. As for you, O polytheists, you do not actually have the men and wealth that Korah and Pharoh had, yet Pharaoh's soldiers did not avail him, nor did Korah's treasures or his kinship ties to Moses (u). Al-Qurtubi: 16/312.
Question: Allah narrates Korah's story. Why? What is the lesson to be learned from that?

Al-Qasas Verses 0 - 76

(Do not exult), the exultation that leads to self-admiration and tyranny, and that is why Allah says, (Allah does not like the exultant). Moreover, it is said that it means rejoicing over this life’s gains, since only those who are heedless of the Hereafter do that. This meaning is indicated by this verse: (Nor rejoice over that which has been given to you) [57:23]. Ibn Juzay: 2/151.
Question: What is the prohibited exultation?

Al-Qasas Verses 0 - 77

Meaning: Do not neglect your share of your world, rather, enjoy it while working for the Hereafter. It is said that it means do not waste your life by neglecting to do righteous deeds, as a man’s share of this world is the good deeds he makes. Hence, based on this interpretation, the statement becomes an admonishment. As for the first interpretation, it makes it lawful to enjoy life, lest the listener becomes turned off by the admonishment. (And do good as Allah has done good to you), do good as Allah has done good to you by giving you wealth. Ibn Juzay: 2/151.
Question: How can the servant be saved from the trial of wealth in this worldly life?

Al-Qasas Verses 0 - 77

Attributing the share to the listener indicates that it is within his right to enjoy his wealth in a way that is suitable to him, especially if it is not spent in Allah's cause, as long as it is not prohibited. Ibn Ashur: 20/179.
Question: The Muslim should not restrict his spending on eating or drinking while he is wealthy. Explain.
