ﭡ ﭢ ﭣ ﭤ ٣٤ ٣٤ ﭦ ﭧ ﭨ ﭩ
ﭪ ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ ﭮ ٣٥ ٣٥ ﭰ ﭱ
ﭲ ﭳ ﭴ ﭵ ﭶ ﭷ ﭸ ٣٦ ٣٦
ﭺ ﭻ ﭼ ﭽ ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ
ﮂ ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ ٣٧ ٣٧ ﮉ ﮊ
ﮋ ﮌ ﮍ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ٣٨ ٣٨ ﮒ
ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ٣٩ ٣٩ ﮛ ﮜ ﮝ
ﮞ ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤ ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ
ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ ﮫ ﮬ ٤٠ ٤٠ ﮮ ﮯ ﮰ ﮱ
ﯓ ﯔ ﯕ ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ٤١ ٤١ ﯛ ﯜ
ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠ ﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ
ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ ﯩ ﯪ ﯫ ﯬ ٤٢ ٤٢ ﯮ
ﯯ ﯰ ﯱ ﯲ ﯳ ﯴ ﯵ ﯶ ٤٣ ٤٣
وَلَا يَأۡتُونَكَ بِمَثَلٍ إِلَّا جِئۡنَٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَحۡسَنَ تَفۡسِيرًا ٣٣
This verse indicates that the one who speaks of knowledge, whether he is a scholar of Hadith, a teacher or, a preacher, should follow the example of his Lord in the way He dealt with His Messengers’ affairs. In this manner, the scholar should deal with people’s affairs. Every time an incident occurs or there is a special occasion, he should quote what is appropriate of Quranic verses and prophetic hadiths, and offer exhortation based on that. Al-Saadi: 582-583.
Question: In light of this verse, explain some of the wisdom that a preacher and a teacher should have.
ٱلَّذِينَ يُحۡشَرُونَ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمۡ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ شَرّٞ مَّكَانٗا وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلٗا ٣٤
((The ones who are gathered), they will be gathered, vanquished and walking upside-down (on their faces), or dragged to (Hell). This will be a recompense for what they used to do in their worldly life, driven by the devils, without thinking. The Hereafter will be a mirror of everything that is committed in this life. This worldly life is the plantation for the Hereafter, hence, what is done here will be harvested in the hereafter. Anas bin Malik narrated: A man said, "O Allah's Messenger, those disbelievers who will be gathered on their faces on the Day of Resurrection; how will Allah gather the disbeliever on his face?" He said, "Will not the One Who made him walk on his feet in this world be able to make him walk on his face on the Day of Resurrection?" When Qatadah heard that, he said: “Yes, by the Power of Our Lord!” [Al-Bukhari]. Al-Biqai: 13/382.
Question: The requital befits the action. How does the verse point to this meaning?
وَقَوۡمَ نُوحٖ لَّمَّا كَذَّبُواْ ٱلرُّسُلَ أَغۡرَقۡنَٰهُمۡ وَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ لِلنَّاسِ ءَايَةٗۖ
(The messengers), even though they had rejected Noah (u) only, denying one Messenger is, in fact, rejecting them all; therefore, the verse states what their action implied in order to rebuke them. Ibn Atiyah: 4/210.
Question: Rejecting all Messengers is attributed to the people of Noah (u), despite rejecting him only. Why?
وَقَوۡمَ نُوحٖ لَّمَّا كَذَّبُواْ ٱلرُّسُلَ أَغۡرَقۡنَٰهُمۡ وَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ لِلنَّاسِ ءَايَةٗۖ وَأَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمٗا ٣٧ وَعَادٗا وَثَمُودَاْ وَأَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلرَّسِّ وَقُرُونَۢا بَيۡنَ ذَٰلِكَ كَثِيرٗا ٣٨ وَكُلّٗا ضَرَبۡنَا لَهُ ٱلۡأَمۡثَٰلَۖ وَكُلّٗا تَبَّرۡنَا تَتۡبِيرٗا ٣٩
Allah relates that He presented examples [as warnings] to all nations to whom He sent Messengers, and later destroyed. Nevertheless, He had not punished them until after establishing the proof against them. Ibn Taimyah: 5/14.
Question: When do sinners deserve the punishment?
وَلَقَدۡ أَتَوۡاْ عَلَى ٱلۡقَرۡيَةِ ٱلَّتِيٓ أُمۡطِرَتۡ مَطَرَ ٱلسَّوۡءِۚ أَفَلَمۡ يَكُونُواْ يَرَوۡنَهَاۚ بَلۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَرۡجُونَ نُشُورٗا ٤٠ وَإِذَا رَأَوۡكَ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي بَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ رَسُولًا ٤١
(And they have already come upon the town), the pronoun (they) refers to Quraish and other disbelievers. The (town) is the dwelling of the people of Lot (u). (A rain of evil): Stones from the sky. Allah asked them about their sighting of the town since it was on their trading route to the Levant. Then, He states the reason that prevented them from being admonished by seeing the destroyed town is the fact they did not believe in resurrection. Ibn Juzay: 2/108.
Question: In light of this verse, explain the reason for not being admonished by signs and events.
أَرَءَيۡتَ مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُۥ هَوَىٰهُ أَفَأَنتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيۡهِ وَكِيلًا ٤٣
(Have you seen the one who takes his desire as his god), whatever he admires and sees as good in his own desires, becomes his religion and his way. As Allah says: (Is one whose evil deed is made appealing to him so he deems it good [like one who is rightly guided]? It is Allah who causes to stray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. So, do not let yourself collapse in grief for them) [35:8]. Ibn Kathir: 3/310.
Question: How does one worship his desire?
أَرَءَيۡتَ مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُۥ هَوَىٰهُ أَفَأَنتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيۡهِ وَكِيلًا ٤٣
Meaning: He is obedient to his desire, hence, it becomes like a god to him. Desires lead to every corruption, because a human soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil. Ibn Atiyah: 4/212.
Question: When can someone be described as a worshiper of his desire?
