Al-Mu'minun Verses 28 - 29

Allah commanded Noah (u), when he boarded the ship, to praise Him for saving him from the wrongdoers. Then, He commanded him to supplicate Him for a blessed landing. Ibn Atiyah: 4/142.

Al-Mu'minun Verses 0 - 28

Al-Khafaji said: "This indicates that no one should feel pleasure for another person's calamity, even if he is an enemy, just for the fact that he is struck with it; rather, it should be for being safe from his enemy's harm or for cleansing the land from the dirt of his shirk and misguidance." Al-Alusi: 9/230.
Question: According to this verse, there is a difference between victory for oneself and defending the religion. Explain.

Al-Mu'minun Verses 0 - 29

In general, through this verse, Allah educates His servants to say this supplication whenever they are on board something or when they get off board. Moreover, they should say it whenever they enter their homes and after greeting. Al-Qurtubi: 15/37.
Question: What is the practical benefit of this verse?

Al-Mu'minun Verses 0 - 33

These two traits of the eminent of the people point to the motive for denying their Messenger. Since their denial of the meeting of the Hereafter relieves them from expecting reckoning after death, and their wealth and luxury lure them into arrogance and insolence because they were used to being leaders, not followers. Ibn Ashur: 18/52.
Question: The denial of the meeting of the Hereafter and life of luxury are the biggest reasons for detesting the truth and denying the messengers. Explain.

Al-Mu'minun Verses 0 - 33

This describes one of the recurring human tendencies where those who are eminent among people are the first ones to reject the message of truth. Al-Jaza'iri: 3/513.
Question: In light of this verse, explain the risk of the life of luxury.

Al-Mu'minun Verses 35 - 36

Meaning: It is far, far what he promises you of resurrection after you have disintegrated and become dust and bones. Their view was flawed because they came to this conclusion based on their abilities where they compared the ability of the Creator to their own. Exalted be Allah far above that. Al-Saadi: 551.
Question: These disbelievers made a mistake for which they denied the resurrection. What was it?

Al-Mu'minun Verses 39 - 40

Meaning: Allah said to this supplicant Prophet: In a little while, your people will regret their disbelief, but their regret will be of no avail. Ibn Atiyah: 4/144.
Question: The prayer of appressed righteous people is swiftly answered. Explain in light of this verse.
