Al-Isra Verses 0 - 40

Allah describes their claim as no more than a (say) since it was uttered without thinking because had the one who said that reflected on it slightly, he would have found it irrational. Ibn Ashur: 15/108.
Question: Allah describes the polytheists' claim that the angels are the daughters of Allah as a mere (say). Why?

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 44

The use of the statement, (you do not understand) and not, "you do not know", indicates that the mentioned knowledge is of a subtle nature. Ibn Ashur: 15/115.
Question: Allah says, (you do not understand) and not "you do not know." Why?

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 45

Describing this veil as (concealed) indicates a high degree of obscurity so much so that the veil itself is concealed by another. Or, it means that this veil is different from all others because it is invisible. Ibn Ashur: 15/117.
Question: What is the benefit of describing the veil as (concealed) in this verse?

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 46

Meaning: Covers and lids so that they do not understand the meanings of the Quran; rather they listen to it in such a way that proof is established against them. Al-Saadi: 459.
Question: What indicates the existence of a cover or a lid on the heart?

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 46

(And deafness in their ears), Allah made those polytheists hard of hearing; hence, they did not hear the Quran which was recited before them, and this was a part of the concealed partition. The covers on their hearts and the deafness in their ears are a punishment from Allah to deprive them of the guidance of the Quran because of their evil intentions. Allah has not wronged them, but they wronged themselves by detesting the Messenger (ﷺ) and his Message, and fighting him and what he conveyed to them of true faith and the Oneness of Allah. Al-Jaza'iri: 3/199.
Question: What is the punishment, mentioned in this verse, for detesting what the Messenger (ﷺ) conveyed?

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 46

Abu Al-Jawza', Aws bin Abdullah said: There is nothing that drives away satan from the heart like saying, "There is no deity but Allah", then he recited: (And when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran, they turn their backs in aversion). Al-Qurtubi: 13/95.
Question: How do you drive satan from your heart?

Al-Isra Verses 0 - 47

Meaning: We only kept them from benefiting when they hear the Quran because We know that their aim is wrong; they want to find the least reason to criticize it. They are not listening for the purpose of seeking guidance or accepting the truth; rather their intention is not to follow it. One who is like that will not benefit from listening to it in the slightest. Al-Saadi: 459.
Question: What is the best way to benefit from listening to the Quran?
