Meaning: A lesson to those with insight who reflect and become aware. The word (vision) here means insight. It is also said that it means a clear vision. The word (vision) is used instead of "insight" because the intended meaning is clear. Al-Alusi: 9/384.
Question: Why is the word (vision) used instead of "insight"?
(Distinct verses): This includes all signs created by Allah for people to reflect upon, and all verses in His Book that alert and remind them. Ibn Atiyah: 4/191.
Question: What are the verses by which Allah guides the believers?
These verses indicate that faith is not just words, unless those words are accompanied by action. Therefore, the one who turns away from obedience has no faith. Al-Saadi: 572.
Question: This verse contains an important point with regard to faith in Allah. What is it?
It is said that a hypocrite whose name was Bishr was involved in a dispute with a Jew who called on him to go to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) to judge between them, but the hypocrite refused, and suggested they go to Ka'b Bin Al-Ashraf, hence this verse was revealed. Az-Zahrawi narrated that Alhasan bin Abi Alhasan said: "Whoever is called by his opponent to a Muslim judge, but refuses, is wrongful." Ibn Atiyah: 4/191.
Question: What should be the stand of the believer when called to be judged by Sharia law?
It is forbidden to think negatively of the rulings of Sharia or to think that they are contrary to justice and wisdom. Al-Saadi: 572.
Question: Satisfaction with Sharia laws is a blessing from Allah. Explain in light of this verse.
This verse combines the causes of triumph in the Hereafter, as well as those in worldly life. Ibn Ashur: 18/276.
Question: This verse has concise words with comprehensive meaning. Explain.
The hypocrites said to the Prophet (ﷺ): "Wherever you are, we will be; if you go, we will go; if you stay, we will stay; and if you command us to fight, we will." Thus, Allah says, (Say, "Do not swear"), do not take an oath, as talking is done. ([Such] obedience is known), which means that this is obedience with words only without faith, and your lies are known, because you say what you do not do. Al-Baghawi: 3/309.
Question: Do words suffice without faith of the heart?
